On Brads day off we decided to take a much needed road trip. We have been wanting to get out of town for some time now and something Brad and I have always enjoyed doing is going on drives, especially when there are beautiful places to be seen. Even though the part of Arizona we live in is mostly dry and brown, just an hour to 2 hours away there are some gorgeous places. The weather has been gorgeous too. Its been in the 70's and 80's every day for the last month or so. We were in the car for a total of about 4 1/2 hours driving to our destination and back and Jacob did so well. I think he only had 1 tantrum and I just gave him a sucker and he was happy again. We have been fascinated by the cactus plants since we moved here to Arizona.
Until I moved here, I never realized that Arizona has big mountains too.

Pretty Water
Jacob loves the water. I think he took after his mom. I have always loved any kind of body of water, whether it be ocean, lakes, rivers, ponds, streams. Its just so beautiful to me.
He was not letting us hold his hand. He just wanted to run free on this long dock and it was totally freaking me out! Notice I'm holding my hand out and he's completely ignoring it!
I think he is also just extremely happy to be out of the car!
Here you can see that he is not happy to be restrained in any way. Brad just wants to hold his hand for a picture and he's freaking out!!

Beautiful Scenery
This was the most beautiful part of the drive. The water under the mountains is just gorgeous!!
I think these pictures belong on a postcard or in a calender!

My Little Big Boy
My mom recently sent these adorable overalls in the mail and also we just got Jacob some new little white tennis shoes. It seems like whenever he's wearing these shoes he wants to run everywhere he goes now. The other day I decided to get video of one of mine and Jacobs daily walks through the neighborhood.

JACOBS SECOND BIRTHDAY!!!
Here is my attempt at blogging Jacobs special day. All of the following birthday posts are totally out of order but you will get the picture I think. Jacobs birthday was on Saturday November 1st and we just spent the day with good friends here in Arizona.

I thought this was a cute picture. The older kids at Jacobs party were all lounging in our comfy patio chairs after lunch. See how they fit two per chair?! And little Canyon is keeping them entertained with a song/story or something.
Opening one of his presents!
This is Jacobs little buddy William. He is actually a year and a half older than Jacob but Jacob has really taken to him and William treats him very well. As you can tell, he just opened the presents from William. How cute!!
This is later after the party, and Jacob is opening a present that arrived in the mail from grandma Brents.
Books!! His favorite!!

This year we were really excited because Jacob actually touched his cake! For those of you who were at his first Birthday party you might remember that he wanted nothing to do with the cake. So thinking that that could be the case this time around I kept it simple and just made cupcakes. To our delight Jacob dived right in and devoured his cupcake. It was fun to watch.

The Birthday Party
For Jacobs birthday we kept things pretty simple. We invited a few families who all have children that Jacobs plays with and sees on a regular basis.
We hung out on our back patio for a good part of the time just eating hotdogs and chips.
We set the kids table out in the yard. There are several other adults and children in the house. We only invited four families and I think all together their were 8 or 9 kids there.

Farmer Jake
This year for Halloween we kept Jacobs costume simple, but I think the little mustache and eyebrows adds a lot!! I just took my own eyebrow pencil and drew them on and he fought me every step of the way.
We did not have any cowboy boots.
He just looks so bored about the whole thing. He has no idea whats going on!
When I look at these pictures I cant help but wonder if this is what he will look like as an adult. He just looks like a little man. I hope he does not decide to keep a mustache though when he is finally able to grow one.
Jacob had a great time trick or treating. We went with a couple of my friends Tonya and Taryn and their kids. We started at about a quarter to six and the first few houses were a chore. Jacob did not know what to think and he was so upset. He especially did not want to walk everywhere so I ended up just strolling him up to every door. Luckily no one in our neighborhood has steps leading up to their door way so I was able to just push him in a stroller right up to the doors. He never said "Trick or Treat" but he did say "hi" to everyone and he said "Gankoo" which is how he says thank you, after each piece of candy was handed to him. We had a great time!!

My Little Dancer
I get dizzy just watching this one. You will see towards the middle of the video Jacob starts spinning to the beat of the music. He whips his head around real fast every time and I don't know how he does it without falling down!
